In our fast paced world, we remain connected with technology. We're always on our cell phones, our email and photos even catch up with us now on our personal phones. This is a great way to remain in touch with each other! We can send and receive pictures of our loved ones in an instant, tweet to let the world know what we're doing now, and instantly friend people we have not seen for many years on facebook. But with all the connection, are we really connected?
How we spend our time reflects what we value in life. When I spend time with my 2 year old granddaughter, Bella, I sometimes see other adults in the park on their phones while the children play alone. This is not being truly connected.
It is important to live in the moment - and make moments for connecting with those you love. We have voice mail so that we don't have to take every single call. We have email so that we can reach out to people quickly, conveniently, and send along things they are interested in, whether it is photos or business documents. But we also can send things by regular mail - somehow a thank you note, birthday card, invitation, or gift has much more impact when it is received in the regular mail, with a personal touch.
Sometimes we really have to look honestly at ourselves, and how well we really are connecting with others. Spend some time with your thoughts for a change, and turn off the electronics. You'll be refreshed and ready to give back to others when they need it. You'll be ready to connect on a deeper level.
