Darlene Speaking at Ambassadors for Christ

Over 700 people attended Darlene's presentation at the meeting of the Ambassadors for Christ in Pensacola, Florida on May 16, 2009.  The audience was from all over the world.  Many Pastors were in attendance, learning about the Ambassadors for Christ mission. 

Darlene's presentation focused on the topic Choices We Make in Life and Business.  We are not defined by our circumstances; we are defined by our choices. 

Key points included:

  • Being Mindful - getting rid of negativity, not being misled by envious, greedy, and unhappy people.  Guard your mind (Col. 3:2).  Focus on the good and have an attitude of abundance.  What we think about, we bring about.  Be grateful for the blessings all around. 

 

  •  Planning - the 3% of the population that controls the wealth in our world are planners.  You would not build a home without a plan or blueprint, so working on our business is more important than working in it.  Constantly be tweaking things and repositioning as the business develops, to be moving onwards and upwards.  You are your data base!  You are a tangible asset as a business owner.

 

  • Scheduling the "Rocks in Our Lives" - live in the moment and do not allow life's urgent agenda to overcome your desired plan.  How we spend our time is a high indication of what we value most. 
    • Intimate time with God is your first priority.  God first, then family, then your business. 
    • Develop systems and scripts to overcome the interruptions, stay focused, and remain on task. 

 

  • Connecting on a Deeper Level - With today's technology we are less connected than ever.  Learn to listen, focus on the personask questions, and listen quietly - these are the major accomplishments of connecting.  Use VIF forms, hand written meaningful notes, focused phoning, and spend face to face time with the client or friend.  That is the most important form of communication, not email.  Hosting  client events, and giving back to the community is a better investment than advertising in the mass media.  It is not what you say, it is what you do!
